Neandertalčeva piščal
ℹ︎ The oldest musical instrument in the world, made by a Neanderthal from a cave bear bone about 60,000 years ago. This is 20,000 years older than most similar ancient flutes. It was found in an underground cave during excavations at the Divje Baba archaeological park near Cerkno, Slovenia.
Slovenian scientists are convinced that this find confirms that the Neanderthal was a spiritually advanced creature capable of complex artistic creation, and the origins of Slovenian culture lie in the deep antiquity of the Paleolithic. The original is kept in the National Museum of Slovenia and is on permanent display, you can see for yourself!
